How would you describe The Brew Society?
Speciality coffee by day; craft beer, great wine and interesting whisky by night. Passionate staff. Truly independent.
What inspires you?
We're a combination of forces. Nino (of No.35, Harrogate) is inspired by great coffee and service. Rich and Danni (of The Little Ale House, Harrogate) are inspired by intimate, original and independent atmospheres, oh, and great micro brewed beer. Personable service is really important to us, and The Brew Society team are all people people!
What is it like working in Leeds and what do you love about the city?
Leeds has a real buzz in and around the city centre. There are lots of exciting developments, and its jammed packed with great indies. Dan and Rich are big fans of traditional architecture, and there's some real hidden gems, especially if you look above shop fronts. Naturally, they also love pubs and bars, and enjoy mooching around both traditional haunts, such as Whitelocks, as well as newer spots such as Wapentake. When it comes to beer, Leeds is a treasure trove of great micro breweries, from newbies Wilde Child and Nomadic to established national leaders North and Northern Monk. For Nino, having North Star Coffee Roasters on the doorstep is brilliant. North Star are leaders in directly sourcing fantastic, interesting, single origin coffee in a really sustainable and fair manner. They roast on their premises in Leeds Dock, and the ability to pop in and sample before serving at The Brew Society is brilliant!
Your top tips for a first time visitor?
Spend time hunting out the great independents on offer. Don't forget to look up and enjoy the some of the 'hidden' architecture.
Can you share a secret insider place / view / experience?
Not so much a secret, but the new Stuzzi is a exciting addition to Leeds. Add it to the long list of great spots to kick back and chill out in.
